Common Ground’s workshops are based around two visual forms: Sign Language and movement (body language). This visual expression, the fusion of sign language, dance and theatre can help bring Deaf and hearing people to a common understanding of the human experience. Our Education, Community and Outreach work uses sign dance theatre as its prime vocabulary and concentrates on dance, movement and creative work. Our workshops can be used to explore many themes, not only Deafness. We run specific workshops focusing on a range of themes including: Choreography and Sign Theatre For community groups and schools we have built successful workshops which fit within the National Curriculum. Many positive effects from the workshops have been fed back to us by participants, these include: discovery of individual expressiveness, enhanced self esteem, improved communication, team building and self assertiveness. |
